Chiclayo Costa del Sol Wyndham
Make time while you’re in Chiclayo to relax in the rooftop pool at the Wyndham Costa del Sol.
I stayed at the Costa del Sol Wyndham in Chiclayo, Peru while I wrote about following the footsteps of Pope Leo XIV for my article published by Frommer’s Travel about the Pope’s hometown in Peru. The hotel is located just a couple blocks from Chiclayo’s central park and the cathedral where Pope Leo held mass when he was the Bishop of Chiclayo.

Of all the common areas at the hotel, the rooftop was my favorite for the calming sounds of the waterfall fountain above the pool.
Rooms at the Chiclayo Costa del Sol Wyndham are spacious and all have air conditioning, mini-fridges and self service tea and coffee.
There were lots of options at the breakfast buffet and attentive staff on hand for orders from the kitchen.
I was so busy seeing the sights in Chiclayo that I didn’t have time for the spa or gym, though both looked excellent. Lunch and dinner are served in the same restaurant as breakfast but there’s a separate bar and lounge open afternoons and evenings. The Costa del Sol Wyndham in Chiclayo would be a great place for groups coming to see where Pope Leo was Bishop because it’s so close to the cathedral and because the conference rooms would be great for speakers to share about the Pope’s years in Chiclayo.
One final detail: amenities
I really appreciated that the bathroom amenities were the eco-friendly Pharmacopeia brand. It’s always encouraging to see how many hotels in Peru take sustainability seriously.
