Andino Club Hotel is the most comfortable and sustainable hotel in Huaraz.
This was my fourth trip to Huaraz and I’m so glad to finally find a hotel that I like, especially since it is one of the most sustainable hotels I’ve found anywhere in the world.

This was my view of Huascarán every morning from my room at the Andino Club Hotel.
Views of Mt. Huascarán
Request a room on the third or fourth floor for an excellent view of Huascarán, the highest mountain in Peru at 6,768m/22,205ft above sea level. I loved waking up and opening the curtains to see Huascarán every morning.
My double room was warm and comfortable with a 3rd floor view of Huaraz and Huascarán.
Rooms have carpet and wood ceilings, comfortable beds, desks and bathrooms stocked with quality amenities. My room also had fluffy bathrobes and warm slippers. Rooms are so well insulated that even without a heater my room was always warm in the afternoon and evening. In the morning it was so warm I had to open my window for fresh air.
There are 56 rooms with a maximum occupancy of 125 guests. The conference room is designed for up to 100 people.
Dining at Andino Club Hotel
The breakfast buffet has the usual fresh fruit, fruit juice, yoghurt and cereals. It also has several kinds of bread, which change daily, and Swiss birchermüseli. I’ve never been a big fan of müseli but this was delicious, and I had it all four mornings I was at Andino Club Hotel. The kitchen is open for eggs and other requests. Coffee is self-serve, with regular milk, lactose-free and non-dairy options of soy or almond.
The lunch and dinner menu are excellent and the kitchen is open until 9pm. I had dinner twice at Andino Club Hotel and both times the service was fast and the food delicious.
Sustainability at Andino Club Hotel
Energy Use and Self-sufficiency
Andino Club Hotel has an impressive array of solar panels on the roof, which currently power 60% of the hotel’s energy needs. With installation of additional batteries in early 2027, the hotel will be entirely self-sufficient and can detach from the city’s electrical grid.
Decreased Water Use
The hotel uses very little city water, which is critically important as the region is getting less rain every year and glaciers are receding. There are two large cisterns which collect rainwater and water from the hotel’s showers and sinks. The cistern water is used for the gardens and the extensive greenhouses where most of the hotel’s vegetables and some of the fruit is grown.
Eliminating Disposable Plastic
Hotel guests are encouraged to refill water bottles at the sink labeled Refill Station Filtered Water. Rooms also have electric kettles to boil water for tea or to refill water bottles with boiled water. This is important because tap water in Peru is unsafe to drink and without these options travelers tend to buy a lot of water in disposable plastic bottles. There are no plastic recycling facilities near Huaraz.
Staying at Andino Club Hotel and buying products from Fraternitas supports children in Casma, near Huaraz.
Social Responsibility
Andino Club Hotel supports the Swiss charity Fraternitas in the nearby town of Casma. The non-profit has two homes that house up to 30 children who cannot live with their families, often because of domestic violence.
