Costa del Sol Pucallpa
The pool is perfectly situated so it’s sunny in the morning but has shade in the heat of the afternoon.
Costa del Sol Wyndham Pucallpa, Peru
There are so many things I loved about the Costa del Sol Wyndham Hotel in Pucallpa!
My junior suite was very comfortable, the food was great, the pool was a welcome relief from the heat of the afternoon but most of all the staff was wonderful. They were all friendly, helpful and happy to answer all my questions. This was my first time in Pucallpa and I needed a lot of help with my itinerary and travel plans.
Since a photo says a thousand words, I’ve included some photos of my five nights at the Pucallpa Costa del Sol Wyndham. I put my name on them so you know it’s a photo from my experience in Pucallpa, not a PR shot or something I lifted from the internet. Click on photos to enlarge them.
Welcome to Pucallpa
I was still settling into my room when room service brought me a sweet welcome to the Costa del Sol Wyndham.
Welcome Drink
One of the welcome drink options is a pisco sour, which was wonderfully refreshing after a hot day of travel to get to Pucallpa.
My room was a junior suite, with a view over the pool.
Since I was there to work, I appreciated having a separate room with a desk, table and couch. Both the bedroom and living room had separate air conditioning units, which also made it much more comfortable. Both rooms had a full wall of windows out over the pool. My bed was king size and very comfortable, with a variety of pillows.
I avoid disposable plastic water bottles when I travel so I was happy to see an electric kettle and a mini fridge. I had brought my own reusable water bottles and because tap water in Peru is unsafe to drink, I boiled water in the kettle, let it cool and then put it in my water bottles in the fridge so I always had cold water.
The suite was much larger, with a nice jacuzzi but all one space.
It’s on the corner of the building, so one side has a view over the pool and the other side looks north. It has the same king size bed as the junior suite.
There are also Superior Rooms that have either a king size bed or two full size beds.
I loved breakfast at the Costa del Sol’s restaurant Paprika.
The breakfast buffet is all four sides of the dining room’s central island. If my breakfasts look repetitive, that’s only because I’m a creature of habit. There is plenty of variety from one day to the next.
One side of the buffet is a variety of breads, cheeses and cold cuts. Another side is a set of hot dishes, which always includes some kind of potato dish, scrambled eggs, veggies and the fourth dish was different every day. The third side is all fruit juices, fresh fruit and a variety of yoghurt flavors. The last side is the most important: coffee and tea.
Next to the bar is a separate buffet for children with pancakes and waffles, with another separate gluten-free buffet.
Dinner at Paprika in the Costa del Sol
I only had time for one dinner at the Costa del Sol Wyndham’s restaurant Paprika, but it was lovely. I chose the palm heart salad and patarashka of paiche for my main course. Patarashka is fish wrapped in bijao (heliconia leaves) and steamed. It’s healthy and delicious. The tiramisu dessert was less healthy but just as delicious.
Spa with sauna and massage rooms at the Costa del Sol
There is no extra charge for the spa but I enjoyed the outdoor pool so much that I wasn’t tempted to spend any time in the indoor spa. I’m not a big fan of saunas but for people who love a good sauna, there’s both a dry sauna and a steam room.
